Welcome to day 1 of the mini-course

 Working at the Long Rein

It’s fantastic to have you here!

In this course, we guide you step by step through building up your long reining work: from a safe and clear foundation to the first gymnastic exercises. You’ll learn how to train your horse from the ground using body language, energy, and rein aids.

Today is all about preparation. A solid foundation is essential for safe and relaxed long reining. That’s why we’ll first look at the purpose of long reining, its benefits, and the equipment you need to get started successfully.

Key focus points for today:

  • Understanding what working at the long rein involves

  • Gaining insight into the benefits for you and your horse

  • Getting familiar with the right equipment and how to use it

  • Becoming aware of safety and a good starting position

Today, it is not yet the intention to actively start long reining. We first build a strong foundation, so you can begin with clarity and confidence tomorrow.

Tomorrow, we’ll start with the first practical exercises.

Take your time to go through everything. Good preparation really makes all the difference.

▶ Day 4 – Straight lines and corners
How does your horse learn the difference between going straight and turning?
How do you create clarity in your aids?
How do you teach your horse to respond to the outside rein?
